If we have aroused your curiosity, you are welcome to read more here about skiing in Italy.
Dolomites
The Dolomites are a mountain group of the Southern Limestone Alps. They are spread over the regions of Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige in Italy. Parts of the Dolomites are an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009. The highest mountain in the Dolomites is the Marmolata with about 3350 metres. Other famous peaks are the Civetta, the Three Peaks and the Sella.
Val di Fiemme
Val di Fiemme is a vast valley of the Dolomites in the northeast of Trentino in Italy. It is an international wellness destination with views of the UNESCO Dolomites and two nature parks. Its 60 million trees are capable of absorbing 2 million tonnes of CO2. With 120km of perfectly groomed slopes, skiing is indeed possible in the natural paradise of Val di Fiemme.
Since 2007, the Tour de Ski has been held annually at the beginning of January in Val di Fiemme. The Tour de Ski is a competition in cross-country skiing over several days and is based on the same concept as the stage races in road cycling.
If you are looking for a suitable accommodation, the Sporthotel Obereggen is a great option. Here you can combine culinary delights, sports and relaxation while enjoying a beautiful view.
It is possible to fly to Bolzano (Bozen) airport. From there it takes about half an hour to reach the hotel.
Val Gardena
Val Gardena located in South Tyrol is thé valley of the Dolomites par excellence. In addition to 175km of ski slopes, Val Gardena also has the longest ski slope in South Tyrol, the “La Longia” with a length of over 10km and a difference in altitude of 1,273m. It runs from Seceda to St. Ulrich (Ortisei) with varied passages and wide slopes up to a natural canyon with a frozen waterfall.
If you want to experience pure luxury, you should definitely visit the Alpine Garden Hotel in Ortisei. In the Adults Only Hotel, you can first relax in the sauna after a hard day on the ski slopes and then enjoy a gourmet meal.
As with the Val di Fiemme ski area, you can land with your private aircraft in Bolzano, it takes a 50-minute drive to the hotel.
Marmolata
Marmolata lies in the heart of the Unesco Dolomites between iconic peaks and eternal glaciers. The Marmolata is also known as the Queen of the Dolomites. With over 63km of ski slopes, both skiers and snowboarders will find a favourite spot over there. The winter sports area lies at an altitude of 1,446m to 2,269m, which makes it very certain, that there will be snow through all winter.
A great hotel would be the Hotel Villetta Maria at 1,681m. The typical mountain chalet is surrounded by the Marmolata and the Vernel peak. With an excellent wine canteen and great food, it is the perfect place to end the evening after an exhausting ski trip. Also he hotel is just a few kilometres from the Belvedere ski area and the Ciampac-Buffaure ski lift. So it’s the perfect destination for skiing in Italy!
Due to its location in the heart of the Dolomites, the journey from Bolzano airport takes around 1 1/2 hours, which is slightly longer than the other ski areas, but no less beautiful.
With a private jet to the airport in Bozen
The airport Bozen is located in the south of the city, about 15 minutes from the city centre. The terminal is open from 5.30am to 11pm. Private flights depart from the GAT or General Aviation Terminal. It has a VIP lounge located on the first floor with a panoramic view. It is equipped with a minibar with snacks and drinks, satellite TV, telephone, wifi, PC, printer and toilets. Meeting rooms are also available.
