Things to do in Barcelona
Mercat de Santa Caterina
This market is existing since 1848, here you can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, a lot of sweet stuff and souvenirs. You find this market right next to the “Via Laietana” which is really close to the “Caterdral de la Santa Creu Eulàlia”.
The market was renovated in 2000 by architects Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue. The aim of the renovation was to give the market a modern appearance, with a wave-shaped roof covered in coloured tile
Parc del Laberint d’Horta
Here we are talking about the oldest park in Barcelona. The name is coming from the labyrinth which is located inside. The park is a little bit outside the city, so if you want to relax from all the city life, this is a good option.

It is best known for its formal gardens with sculptures, terraces and fountains. These gardens offer a romantic and peaceful setting, ideal if you are travelling as a couple.
Turó de la Rovira
The Turó de la Rovira is actually a bomb shelter from the 2nd world war, but from here you have an amazing 360-degrees view, over Barcelona.
It is a good idea to pack a blanket and some snacks and have a picnic up there and watch the sunset.
Hospital de Sant Pau
The Hospital was built in 1902 and in all of the 48 different pavilions, were served the various medical departments. Nowdays it is not used as a hospital anymore, therefore it is used for congresses, research facilities and events. It is a really beautiful building and not yet so crowded by tourists. Park Güell and Casa Batllo
The park was designed by Antoni Gaudí between 1900 and 1914 and is a symbol of the city. Back in the days, they had really strict conditions how to build and design this park, but they did such a good job, that Eusebi Güell wanted to copy the style for his park in Great Brittan.
So Eusebi Güell lent his name to the park. Because of all the visitors, the government decided to demand admission to the park. Therefor you should buy your tickets in advance.

Arc de Triomf
The Arc de Triomf was the main entrance gate of the World Exhibition in Barcelone, it is located in the north-east of the city and is forming the beginning of the wide passage “Lluís Companys”. The gate is 30 meter high and is made in a reddish brick in the Neo-Mudejar style.
Hotel Colon – Rooftop bar / Barri Gòti
The Colon hotel is located right on the opposite of the Cathedral and from the hotel bar you have a unique view on the Cathedral Barri Gótic. Which is one of the most important temple of Barcelona. The terrace of the Hotel has two floors and offers refreshing cocktails, a typical sangria or a cold beer. It is perfect to enjoy along with the relaxing vibe and listening to some of the live music acts, which are often taking place up there.
Visit the Sagrada Família basilica
One of Barcelona’s most emblematic landmarks is the Sagrada Família. It is an unfinished basilica, still under construction, designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí.
It is the most visited monument in Spain! You can take your time admiring its unique architecture, especially as the building is so huge! You can also climb the towers for an absolutely incredible view of the city.
The Sagrada Família is dedicated to the Holy Family and is filled with religious symbols. Each façade tells a part of the story of the Christian faith. As for the interior of the basilica, it is adorned with colourful stained glass windows that create a spiritual atmosphere.
Stroll along the famous Las Ramblas promenade
Las Ramblas are 5 bustling avenues in the centre of Barcelona. It’s a must-see in Barcelona!
You’ll find flower stalls and street artists. What’s more, you’ll be able to go into a variety of shops, cafés and restaurants.
This is also the place to stop at the colourful Boqueria market. Here you’ll find a wide variety of fresh produce, and it’s undoubtedly the best-known market in the Catalan capital!
If you want to eat out while you’re on these wide avenues, we recommend you go to Raó Restaurant. It’s the best place to eat traditional local tapas as well as the more sophisticated Catalan tapas prepared by the chef.
As for the cafés you go to, be careful as many places are touristy. The best café on the avenue is El Bosc de Les Fades. The setting is incredible and the atmosphere atypical… You’ll feel like you’re in a forest!
Relaxing on Barceloneta beach
The climate in Catalonia is very pleasant! So a trip to Barcelona is the perfect way to enjoy the sun and sea, with a visit to Barceloneta beach.
You can sunbathe on the sand of a beach located in the city centre and swim in the Mediterranean waters. If you want to eat locally, you can also enjoy delicious paellas in the beachside restaurants.
There are plenty of other beaches in the vicinity of the city, but Barceloneta is the best known because it is the most central and easiest to get to.
