Sylt is with 99 km² the largest North Frisian Wadden Island. It lies in the north of the Wadden Sea, near the Danish border. It lies in Germany and has 21,000 inhabitants and receives 650,000 tourists every year. The island is connected to the mainland via the Hindenburgdamm and is therefore no longer a real island. The beaches are beautiful white sandy beaches. It is possible to walk kilometers over the beach. with the wind in your back. At the end you can return  back by bus. Busses run generously between 5:00 and 1:00AM. Especially the southern leg of the island is relatively little visited and so it is possible to walk on the beach without encountering anybody.
