From Friday, 17 July to Sunday, 19 July 2026, the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps will serve as the backdrop for the Formula 1 Moët & Chandon Belgian Grand Prix. This event, deeply rooted in motorsport history, is regarded as one of the most prestigious fixtures on the international racing calendar. The addition of Moët & Chandon as the title sponsor this year further emphasizes the synergy between elite sporting performance and global excellence.

A technical and natural masterpiece

Spa-Francorchamps is regarded by a significant portion of the driver field as the most superior circuit in the world. What makes the track unique is the preservation of its authentic character; despite large-scale modernizations and strict safety updates, the asphalt still follows the natural contours and challenging elevation changes of the Ardennes landscape.

With a total length of 7.004 kilometers, it is not only the longest circuit on the calendar but also one of the most technically demanding tracks for both man and machine, due to its combination of high-speed corners—with the iconic Eau Rouge/Raidillon section as the absolute highlight.

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit is regarded by many drivers as the most beautiful track in the world. History

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit opened in 1921 as a 14-kilometer track utilizing public roads. The original route formed a triangle between Francorchamps, Malmedy, and Stavelot, with the path returning to the start via the high-speed Masta section and the Route de l’Eau Rouge. Following a successful introduction with motorcycle races, the first official car race took place in 1922.

Although the track was shortened to its current 7-kilometer layout in 1979, this historical foundation remains the basis for the unique character of the circuit today.

Aérodrome de Spa-La Sauvenière: Your exclusive gateway

Anyone attending the Formula 1 in the Ardennes understands that the journey is often an ordeal. Each year, the narrow access roads to the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps inevitably become congested. The secret to bypassing this chaos? Aérodrome de Spa-La Sauvenière (EBSP).

A century of aviation history

Since 1909, this private airfield has served as a beacon in the region. Situated on a plateau near the city of Spa, the location exudes the atmosphere of the early aviation pioneers. While the city of Spa is historically known as the ‘Café de l’Europe’ for the nobility, La Sauvenière has functioned for decades as the discreet entrance for the happy few who wish to attend the Belgian Grand Prix in style.

Why bigger is not always better

There is a significant technical reason why this airfield remains so exclusive: the runway. With a length of approximately 800 meters, the runway is unsuitable for heavy private jets, which typically require more than 1,000 meters of asphalt. Consequently, large business jets are forced to divert to Liège or Maastricht airports.

This is precisely where your advantage lies. By opting for an Air Taxi such as the Cirrus SR22, you can land on this shorter runway. While jet travelers must board a transfer bus after landing only to join the Ardennes traffic congestion, you will find yourself at La Sauvenière just 6 kilometers from the paddock. You can already hear the engines roaring from the apron.

The experience: From cockpit to grandstand

The arrival is an experience in itself. The descent over the dense Ardennes forests offers a spectacular bird’s-eye view of the 7.004 km long ‘Ardennes Rollercoaster.’ Once on the ground, the handling is swift and discreet:

  • No waiting times: No crowded terminals; you step directly from the aircraft into your transport.
  • Immediate proximity: Within 10 minutes, you will be standing at the legendary Eau Rouge corner.
  • Maximum efficiency: You save not only hours of travel time but also the frustration of parking management and diversions.

For the serious racing enthusiast, Spa-La Sauvenière is not merely an airfield; it is the only way to experience the Grand Prix with the speed that the sport demands.

Can I fly back and forth on the day of the race itself?

Certainly. Many of our clients opt for a ‘day trip’ on Sunday. You will land in the morning well before the start and depart shortly after the podium ceremony, allowing you to avoid hotel costs and the congestion of the Ardennes nightlife.

Is it possible to depart from an airfield other than those mentioned?

Yes, the locations listed are merely examples. The Cirrus SR22 can depart from almost any regional airfield in Europe. Please contact our team for a tailor-made flight plan from the airfield most convenient for you.

Do I need to arrange my own transport from the airport to the paddock?

Although the airfield is only 6 km away, we recommend booking a shuttle or private chauffeur through us in advance. Local taxi capacity during the Grand Prix weekend is extremely limited; we can ensure a vehicle is waiting for you immediately upon landing.
